Spring Cleaning and Rebirth
We finally had a pleasant weather day, so I got outside to do some spring cleaning. The backyard had lots of leaves and limbs to rake and chop up. I also did a little work in the "foundation beds" out front. Much to my delight a couple of the perennials that I planted last year are showing signs of coming back after surviving their first winter! In the back yard are two varieties of Bleeding Heart (Lamprocapnos spectabilis) - Old Fashion Bleeding Heart and Valentine Bleeding Heart.
Out front a couple of the beautiful Columbines (Aquilegia canadensis) that I planted last year are also coming back.
The rebirth of the world every spring is a wonder that never ceases to amaze me, but it's extra special when something that you've planted and tended to returns after the long, dark winter.
